Royals Sign Catcher
The Kansas City Royals have signed Jose Briceno to a minor league contract.
Briceno will provide the Royals with a bit more depth at catcher. He is set to start his time with the organization with Triple-A Omaha. With Carlos Perez and Cam Gallagher both currently out for Kansas City, there's also a chance that we could see Briceno briefly promoted if he impresses in Omaha.
Briceno has spent the majority of his career in the minor leagues but does have some MLB experience. In 48 career games with the Los Angeles Angels, he has five home runs, 10 RBIs, and a .239 batting average. He last appeared in a major league game during the 2020 season but will be hoping to change that with the Royals.
