Reds Sign Pitcher
The Cincinnati Reds have signed Walker Lockett to a minor league contract.
Even with their current three-game winning streak, the Reds still have a league-worst 6-23 record. With this, naturally, the club is trying to find ways to become competitive because nothing has been working. Thus, giving a pitcher like Lockett a chance does make sense.
Although this is a minor-league contract, there's reason to believe that Lockett could land a promotion as he continues to get reps down in Triple-A. He has already shown that he can work as both a starter and reliever in the majors, so that kind of versatility will help his chances. In 20 career games between the Padres, Mets, and Mariners, he has a 2-4 record and 7.67 ERA.
