Red Sox Sign Pitcher
The Boston Red Sox have signed Carlos Martinez to a minor league contract.
Martinez just completed a nine-year stint with the St. Louis Cardinals. Yet, his final season with the Cards was certainly disappointing, as he had a 4-9 record and a very high 6.23 ERA. This was also after he sported a 9.90 ERA in five starts during the 2020 season.
Yet, there's no harm in the Red Sox giving Martinez a shot to bounce back. Before his back-to-back bad seasons, he was quite effective. In fact, he is also a two-time All-Star, so Boston will be hoping he can find that form again. In 274 career games for St. Louis, he has a 62-52 record and 3.74 ERA.
