Rays Sign 3 Pitchers

The Tampa Bay Rays have added to their pitching depth in a big way, as they have signed Shawn Armstrong, Joe Wieland, and Kevin Herget each to minor-league contracts.

Out of the trio, Armstrong is the most notable. The 31-year-old has pitched in 160 career games between the Guardians, Mariners, Orioles, Rays, and Marlins. In them, he sported a 5-2 record to go along with a 4.87 ERA. Now, he will be hoping to get an eventual call-up to Tampa to officially begin their reunion.

Wieland has some major league experience but hasn't pitched in the sport's most competitive league since 2016 with the Mariners. In 12 career games, he has a 1-6 record and a 6.32 ERA. He most likely will remain in the minors for the season.

Herget has yet to make his major league appearance but will be aiming to change that in 2022. In 240 career minor league games, he has a 46-25 record to go along with a 3.55 ERA.
