Pirates Designate Infielder For Assignment
The Pittsburgh Pirates have designated Cole Tucker for assignment.
Tucker was once a former top prospect in the Pirates' system, but he just hasn't been able to develop into the full-time MLB player they believed he would. In 18 games this season, he has zero home runs, two RBIs, and a .175 batting average. Due to Tucker's struggles and the Pirates acquiring Yu Chang from the Guardians, it made him expendable.
The Pirates will now have a week to either trade him or place him on waivers. It will be intriguing to see if another team is willing to take a chance on the 2014 first-round pick. In 154 career games, he has five home runs, 35 RBIs, and a .211 batting average.
