Pirates Catcher Designated For Assignment

The Pittsburgh Pirates have designated Andrew Knapp for assignment.

This news comes shortly after the Pirates claimed fellow catcher Tyler Heineman off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays. This decision has made Knapp expendable in the eyes of the Pirates, and he will now be either traded, released, or placed on waivers from here. 

Knapp comes with a decent amount of overall experience, so he could end up finding a new home. In 320 career games between the Phillies and Pirates, he has 13 home runs, 64 RBIs, and a .210 batting average.
