Pirates Catcher Becomes Free Agent
After clearing waivers, Andrew Knapp has elected to become a free agent and leave the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Knapp was designated for assignment by the Pirates last week and will now have the chance to sign elsewhere. In 11 games this season with Pittsburgh, the veteran catcher had zero home runs, two RBIs, and a .129 batting average. A slow start, yes, but that doesn't automatically mean that he won't be able to find a new home from here.
Teams are always looking to add to their catching depth, so it will be intriguing to see where Knapp ends up from here. In 320 career games between the Phillies and Pirates, he has 13 home runs, 64 RBIs, and a .210 bating average.
