Orioles Third Baseman Designated For Assignment
After a rough start to the 2022 season, Kelvin Gutierrez has been designated for assignment by the Baltimore Orioles.
In 12 games with Baltimore this campaign, Gutierrez has zero home runs, three RBIs, and a .143 batting average. With these kinds of numbers, one can understand why the Orioles are opting to cut him from their 40-man roster.
Although this is hard news for Gutierrez, we could see another team elect to give him a chance from here. He has made appearances at the major league level in each of the last four seasons, so he does come with some experience. In 121 games between the Kansas City Royals and Orioles, he has four home runs, 34 RBIs, and a .228 batting average. It will be intriguing to see if he will have the chance to build on these career totals during this season.
