Orioles Catcher Heading To Triple-A
Last week, the Baltimore Orioles designated Anthony Bemboom for assignment and then placed him on waivers. The 32-year-old catcher has since cleared them and now will be heading to Triple-A Norfolk.
Bemboom was in his first season with the Orioles and got into a good amount of action. In 22 games on the year, he had one home run, one RBI, and a .115 batting average. With numbers like these, it's clear that he struggled, so it's understandable that the Orioles elected to call up top prospect Adley Rutschman instead.
Bemboom will be hoping to impress in Triple-A and potentially get called up to be a backup before the season is done. In 76 games between the Rays, Angels, and Orioles, he has five home runs, 12 RBIs, and a .160 batting average.
