MLB Rumors: Tigers To Shop Catcher
During the offseason, the Detroit Tigers acquired Tucker Barnhart from the Cincinnati Reds. Yet, with Barnhart being a pending UFA and the Tigers having a horrible season, his time in Detroit will likely be over before the deadline passes.
Barnhart is the kind of catcher that all playoff teams would love to have. Although he isn't dominant at the plate, he is heavily praised for his fielding ability. Yet, in 30 games this season with Detroit, he has a .253 batting average, so he has been hitting for contact decently.
Barnhart's immense experience also helps make him an alluring trade target. In 774 career games, he has 51 home runs, 265 RBIs, and a .248 batting average. Let's see if he joins his third career team by the end of the summer.
