Mariners Pitcher Designated For Assignment
With the Seattle Mariners signing Justin Upton, they needed to free up a spot for him on their 40-man roster. Due to this, the club has designated Adrian Sampson for assignment.
Sampson is no stranger to being DFAed, as he just was by the Chicago Cubs last week. The Mariners went on to claim him off waivers following it, but now his time on their 40-man roster is already over. With this, Seattle will now have to either trade him or place him on waivers from here.
Sampson did not end up appearing in a game for the Mariners since joining their squad. In one game this season with the Cubs, he pitched a scoreless inning. In 52 career games between the Mariners (previous tenure), Rangers, and Cubs, he has a 7-14 record and 5.13 ERA. Let's see if he finds a new home from here.
