Key Dodgers Starting Pitcher Out Indefinitely

Off to one of the best starts of his 15-year career, the Los Angeles Dodgers' three-time Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw has landed on the IL with a pelvic injury.

It's being called "right SI joint inflammation," and although the team is calling it a "short-term" injury for now, he is out indefinitely.

Kershaw is 4-0 over his first five starts of the season, with a 1.80 ERA, a 0.73 WHIP, and a remarkable 32:3 K:BB ratio.

After missing last year's playoffs with left forearm discomfort, and then considering whether he was healthy enough to even continue to play, the 34-year-old Kershaw signed a 1-year, $17M deal to return to the Dodgers for his 15th season, and it's been off to a rollicking start.

Hopefully, the team is correct and this pelvic issue will be a short-term setback.

The Dodgers recalled lefty Garrett Cleavinger from Triple-A Oklahoma City to take his spot on the roster.
