Cubs Prized Off-Season Addition Hits Injured List
The season started off with a bang for the Chicago Cubs' $85M offseason acquisition Seiya Suzuki. But it's been a struggle for the past month, and now a finger injury has landed him on the injured list.
Through Apr. 28, the man once known as Japan's Ronald Acuna Jr., was off to a blistering start, batting .333 with a 1.090 OPS, while being named the NL Rookie Of The Month. But through the month of May, Suzuki has batted just .211 with a .617 OPS.
The 27-year-old has missed the last few games with a sprained ring finger, suffered while stealing 2nd base last Thursday. The IL move is retroactive to Friday.

"He tried to hit off a machine and the vibration of anything right off the barrel was pretty painful for him. Just get that thing calmed down. Pretty good swelling in there. Hopefully it's not very long."
Suzuki had tried to give it a go on the weekend, but according to manager David Ross, "he tried to hit off a machine and the vibration of anything right off the barrel was pretty painful for him."
There's hope that with some rest, the finger will respond and he'll be ready to go once the 10-day period is up, next Monday.
