Blue Jays Sign Pitcher
The Toronto Blue Jays have signed Derek Holland to a minor league contract.
This news come just a few days after Holland opted out of his contract with the Boston Red Sox. Now, Holland will be hoping to land an eventual call-up with the club's AL East rival.
Holland's long MLB resume could eventually lead the Blue Jays to give him a chance. In 346 career games between the Rangers, White Sox, Giants, Cubs, Pirates, and Tigers, he has an 82-83 record, 4.62 ERA, and 1,241 strikeouts. If he performs well in Triple-A, don't be surprised to see him become a part of Toronto's bullpen.
