Athletics Sign Infielder

The Oakland Athletics have signed Matt Davidson to a minor league contract. 

Davidson was recently designated for assignment by the Diamondbacks, but he will now have a new opportunity with the A's. In five games this season with the D-Backs, he had one home run, one RBI, and a .100 batting average. 

Davidson will be beginning his tenure with the organization in Triple-A Las Vegas, however. If he can continue to hit well in Triple-A, there's no question that he could receive a call-up. In 11 games with Triple-A Reno this year, he had eight home runs, 12 RBIs, and a .386 batting average.
