Athletics Send Catcher Down To Triple-A
Earlier this week, the Oakland Athletics designated Austin Allen for assignment. Now, the catcher has cleared waivers and has been sent down to Triple-A.
When it was announced that Allen was placed on waivers, there was some belief that he could find a new home. Teams are always looking for depth behind the plate, but alas, that just did not come to fruition. Now, he will have the chance to build his game back up in Las Vegas. Who knows? If he performs well, perhaps he get a call-up later down the road.
In 57 career games over four seasons with Oakland, Allen has two home runs, seven RBIs, and a .195 batting average.
