Silseth was drafted in the 11th round in 2021. That 11th round number is deceiving though. He was paid well over slot and has moved through the system quickly.
Silseth, though an 11th round draft pick, has moved quickly through the Angels' system, as he was still pitching in college only a year ago. This season, he owns a 1.73 ERA in 5 starts at Double-A Rocket City, with 37 Ks against just 7 BBs in 26 IP. He'll bypass Triple-A completely when he takes to the mound for the Angels on Friday.
The 21-year-old, according to mlb.com's prospect report, has a four-pitch mix, and he showed off all four offerings during instructional league play last fall. He can run his fastball up to 96 mph and he backs it up with both a curve and slider.
He'll start in Oakland against the A's Friday night.
