Video: Javier Baez's First Home Run As A Tiger

The Detroit Tigers made a huge splash when they signed Javier Baez to a six-year, $140 million contract during the offseason. Now, in his fourth game of the season, he hit his first home run with the team. It was an extremely important one, too, as it gave the Tigers a 3-1 lead over the Boston Red Sox in the 8th inning. This would be the eventual final score of the contest, too.

Although the sample size has of course been small, Baez's start of this campaign couldn't be much better. In 15 at-bats on the year, he has five hits, one home run, three RBIs, and a .333 batting average. If he can keep this up, he could be in for an excellent year.

With Baez's home run, the Tigers improved to a 2-2 record. With the offseason that they had, they made it clear that they are aiming to be competitive again. For them to go on a legitimate run this season, they will need more games like this from Baez. Let's see how the rest of the year goes for them.
