Video: Bobby Witt Jr.'s First MLB Hit And Game-Winning RBI
When it was announced by the Kansas City Royals that top prospect Bobby Witt Jr. made their major league roster, there was understandably a lot of excitement about his debut. Although he went 0-3 in his first plate appearances, the rookie made up for it in a big way. With the Royals and Cleveland Guardians tied at 1-1, Witt Jr. hit an RBI double to give the former the lead.
This hit by Witt Jr. was massive for the Royals, as it would become the team's game-winning RBI. Thus, the 21-year-old has already helped Kansas City win in just his first-ever major league game.
It's fair to say that Witt Jr. left a wonderful first impression with this moment. It will be intriguing to see how he continues to play from here. In 124 games split between Double-A and Triple-A last season, he had 33 home runs, 97 RBIs, and a .290 batting average. We already saw a glimpse of this kind of success at the plate translate over to the majors on Thursday.
Nevertheless, congrats on your first hit and game-winning RBI, Bobby!
