Veteran Reliever Elects Free Agency
After being designated for assignment by the Texas Rangers and clearing waivers, Greg Holland has now elected to become a free agent.
Holland signed a minor league deal with the Rangers during the offseason and made the Rangers' major league roster. However, the veteran reliever struggled mightily in his five-game stint with the club, as he had a 0-1 record and 7.71 ERA. Now, he will be aiming to land a contract elsewhere and rebound from here.
Holland's immense experience will likely help him find a job elsewhere in the league. In 556 career games between the Kansas City Royals, Colorado Rockies, St. Louis Cardinals, Washington Nationals, and Rangers, he has a 30-28 record and 3.14 ERA. With that, he is a three-time All-Star and was the AL Reliever of the Year in 2014.
