Twins Send Pitcher To Triple-A
Last week, the Minnesota Twins designated Jharel Cotton for assignment. Due to the fact that he went unclaimed on waivers, the team has assigned him to Triple-A St. Paul.
Cotton appeared in two games for the Twins this season and did not allow a run. Yet, in his two innings pitched, he had clear control problems, as he allowed four walks. This likely played a role in the Twins' decision to designate him for assignment.
Cotton will now be aiming to put together a strong campaign in Triple-A in hopes of landing an eventual call-up to the majors - whether that's with the Twins or elsewhere. In 54 career games between the Oakland Athletics, Texas Rangers, and Twins, the former top prospect has a 13-10 record and 4.66 ERA. It will be interesting to see if he will have the chance to build on these numbers soon.
