Tigers Star Infielder Placed On Injured List

The Detroit Tigers will be without Javier Baez for a bit, as the star infielder has been placed on the 10-day injured list due to a sore right thumb.

Baez was one of Detroit's major offseason acquisitions this year, so it stings to hear that he already has to miss time. He's been off to a hot start with his new team, too, as he has one home run, four RBIs, and a .316 batting average in five games. Although the sample size has of course been small, it's very encouraging to see him already having some success with his new club.

With the Tigers having a 4-4 record, they certainly would love to go on a winning streak to help make their start of the season a good one. Yet, being without Baez is definitely not a good way to assist with that objective, as he brings a lot to the table.

Alas, here's to hoping that Baez can return to the lineup once this stint of the IL is over.
