Tigers Place Pitcher On Injured List
The Detroit Tigers will be without Casey Mize, as the 2018 first-round pick has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a strained elbow.
At this juncture, it hasn't been determined that Mize will be out long term. Yet, during this 10-day stint on the IL, he will of course need to rest his arm and hope it heals. If not, he will likely need to miss time after it passes.
Mize's first two starts haven't been perfect this season, as he has a 0-1 record and 5.40 ERA. Yet, there certainly is reason to believe that he will rebound once he is healthy. In his first full season with the Tigers last year, he sported a 7-9 record and 3.71 ERA. The youngster is just getting his career started and if he grows into his full potential, he could be an ace later down the road. Yet, for now, his primary focus will be to heal from his injury first.
