Tampa Bay Rays Promote Pitcher
For the first time in his professional career, Tommy Romero will be pitching in the majors. This is because the Tampa Bay Rays have promoted the 24-year-old to their major league roster.
When looking at Romero's play last season, it's fair to say that he has earned himself some time with the Rays. In 23 games between Double-A and Triple-A, he sported an 8-2 record, 2.61 ERA, and 145 strikeouts. With numbers like these, it does appear that he has the potential to blossom into a full-time starting pitcher at the major league level. Now, he is getting his first chance to show what he's capable of.
Even if this ends up being a short-term stint with the Rays, it is a great opportunity for Romero to get more attention. If he performs well and ends up being sent down, he will likely become of the team's primary call-up options from here.
Nevertheless, keep an eye on Romero when he makes his debut.
