Tampa Bay Rays Promote Infielder
The Tampa Bay Rays have called up Vidal Brujan from Triple-A. This is in response to Yandy Diaz being out with COVID-19.
Brujan is a young second baseman who is trying to cement himself a permanent spot in the majors. Last season he had his first taste of the sport's most competitive league with Tampa. In 10 games with the team, he had just two hits in 26 at-bats. Needless to say, he will be hoping to impress a bit more this time around.
Brujan has been off to a good start in Triple-A Durham, so perhaps this hot streak will translate over to the majors. In five games thus far, he has zero home runs, three RBIs, and a solid .294 batting average. Alas, time will tell how Brujan performs with the Rays during this call-up.
