Seattle Mariners Call Up First Baseman
Mike Ford has landed himself a nice promotion, as the Seattle Mariners have called him up to their major league squad.
Ford made appearances at the major league level in each of the last three previous seasons with the New York Yankees. His rookie campaign in 2019 was most impressive, however, as he had 12 home runs, 25 RBIs, and a .259 batting average in 50 games with the club. He has since had trouble replicating those totals, however. Last season was particularly rough for him, as he had three home runs, five RBIs, and a disastrous .133 batting average in 22 games.
Luckily for Ford, this change of scenery offers him an entirely clean slate moving forward. He had a great start to the campaign with Triple-A Tacoma, as he had two home runs, five RBIs, and a .317 batting average in 11 games. Thus, he has impressed Seattle enough to get called up. Let's see if he's able to stick around from here.
