San Diego Padres Recall Pitcher
With Pierce Johnson forced to miss some time, the San Diego Padres have now called up Ray Kerr from Triple-A.
Although Kerr has been promoted, it's important to note that he's been off to a slow start with Triple-A El Paso this year. In six appearances, he has a 1-0 record but a very high 7.71 ERA. Yet, he also had a 2-1 record and 3.18 ERA between Double-A and Triple-A last season, so that likely played a role in this call-up.
Assuming Kerr takes the mound for San Diego, this will be his first experience in the sport's most competitive league. As a result of this, he will be looking to impress, as it could lead to future call-ups or even a permanent spot in their bullpen later down the road.
