Reds Trade Pitcher To Mariners
The Cincinnati Reds have traded Riley O'Brien to the Seattle Mariners for either a player to be named later or cash.
O'Brien was designated for assignment earlier this week, so it isn't surprising to see that the Reds have decided to trade him. Now, he will have the opportunity for a fresh start with Seattle. From here, he also will be aiming to cement himself a permanent spot in their rotation or bullpen.
O'Brien pitched in one game with the Reds last season. It was his first-ever start in the majors, and it wasn't a particularly good one. He lasted just 1.1 innings, where he allowed two runs on two home runs. Needless to say, he will be hoping for a much better outing when he makes his first appearance for the Mariners.
Nevertheless, at a minimum, the Mariners have added to their pitching depth by acquiring O'Brien.
