Reds Pitcher Designated For Assignment

With the Cincinnati Reds calling up Nick Lodolo to their major league roster, they needed to make room for him. This is unfortunate news for Riley O'Brien, as the 27-year-old has been designated for assignment as a result of this. 

Riley is a pitcher who is trying to cement himself a permanent spot in the majors. He had his first taste of the sport's most competitive league in 2021. In his lone appearance, he allowed two earned runs in 1.1 innings pitched, so it wasn't the greatest of starts. Yet, if he has it his way in 2022, he will have the chance to improve these numbers in the majors. 

We will find out O'Brien's fate with the Reds by next week. He will either placed on waivers or traded to another club. It will be intriguing to see if any other teams are willing to take a chance on him. If they are in need of some pitching depth, it certainly could be worth it. Nevertheless, we will have to wait and see what comes to fruition.
