Rangers And Diamondbacks Complete Trade
The Texas Rangers have traded Yonny Hernandez to the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for Jeferson Espinal.
Hernandez had his first taste of MLB action with the Rangers last season. In 43 games during his rookie season, he had zero home runs, six RBIs, and a .217 batting average. With that, he also was active on the basepaths, as he had a solid 11 stolen bases on 13 attempts.
With the Rangers adding to their infield group this offseason, it ultimately makes sense that they have opted to move on from Hernandez. He will now offer the Diamondbacks versatility, as he can play third base, second base, and shortstop.
Espinal is an outfielder prospect who is just getting his professional career started. In 42 games in Single-A last season, he had one home run, 13 RBIs, and a .216 batting average.
