Padres Shut Down Pitcher
The San Diego Padres manager Bob Melvin told reporters that Austin Adams will be shut down for the next six weeks due to a strained forearm.
This is certainly rough to hear, as Adams was off to a very solid start this season. In 2.1 innings pitched, the veteran has not allowed a run nor a single hit. Yet, his hot start will now have to be put on pause due to this recent development.
Although being without Adams is bad news for the Padres, shutting him down is a real necessity. It will be better for him to focus on his recovery than risk the possibility of worsening his injury. Hopefully, he will be 100% healthy once these six weeks officially pass. If not, he will likely have to miss more time from there, too. Alas, time will tell on that front.
