Nationals Manager Blasts Giants For Running Up Score

Washington Nationals manager Dave Martinez is pissed off at the San Francisco Giants for what he feels is breaking the unwritten rules of baseball. The crazy part is this is the second team to call out the Giants for breaking the code.

On Friday night the Giants won 7-1 over the Nationals and Martinez and company were upset with a late game hit-and-run as San Fran was already up by six runs when they made the call. Usually with over a five run lead in the ninth inning you wouldn't see a team steal bases, or call for hit-and-runs.

Nationals shortstop Alcides Escobar was one of the first players to call out the Giants in the ninth after baserunner Thairo Estrada was thrown out at the plate trying to score. Escobar began to scream at the Giants bench, however wouldn't make any comments after the game. Martinez on the other hand had this to say:

They did some things that we felt (were) uncalled for. But you guys can ask (Giants manager) Gabe Kapler about that. No. I'm done with it. I talked to the team about it, so we're going to play baseball the way we play.

This incident comes after the Giants were in hot water for bunting for a hit with a nine-run lead against the San Diego Padres. Giants manager Gabe Kapler pointed out the Nationals have a potent offense who are capable of putting up runs in bunches and several Giants called Escobar's reaction uncalled for.
