MLB Rumors: White Sox Heavily Pursuing Athletics Pitcher
The Chicago White Sox have had themselves a very busy offseason, but they still might not be done making moves. According to Bob Nightengale, they are now targeting Oakland Athletics pitcher Sean Manaea.
It is clear that the White Sox are aiming to take that next step this season. After finishing the 2021 campaign with a 93-69 record, they failed to go on a long playoff run. Their primary objective is to win the World Series in 2022, and adding a pitcher like Manaea to their already deep roster could help with that.
Yet, it's also important to note that many other teams have called about Manaea on numerous occasions this offseason, too. Thus, the White Sox will need to come with a big trading package to successfully acquire the southpaw.
In 32 games last season with the A's, Manaea had an 11-10 record and 3.91 ERA. Overall, he could be a solid number two or three starter for Chicago, so let's see if they land him.
