MLB Rumors: Padres And Mets Talking Trade
According to Dennis Lin, the New York Mets and San Diego Padres are currently engaging in trade talks. A potential trade that is being discussed has Chris Paddack and Eric Hosmer heading to New York, while Dominic Smith would be going to San Diego.
At this said juncture, this potential trade has not been finalized. However, due to the fact thatto it is getting a lot of attention from reporters, it certainly seems that it is picking up steam. Perhaps we will see this big move made before Opening Day begins.
The Mets were dealt horrible news when it was announced that star Jacob deGrom would be shut down for four weeks. Yet, adding a pitcher like Paddack would help lessen the sting. He is coming off of a down year, however, as he had a 7-7 record and a 5.07 ERA. Yet, when remembering that he is only two years removed from a 3.33 ERA campaign as a rookie, there's reason to believe that he will bounce back.
Hosmer is a player who San Diego has been trying to move for a while now. However, his expensive contract has been a major reason why they can't find him a new home. In 151 games last season, he had 12 home runs, 65 RBIs, and a .269 batting average.
Smith would be a solid addition for the Padres. However, he is also coming off of a bit of a down year, as he had 11 home runs and a .244 batting average in 145 games. Yet, during the season before, he had an impressive .316 batting average.
