MLB Rumors: Athletics Interested In White Sox DH
According to Bob Nightengale, the Chicago White Sox and Oakland Athletics have been engaging in trade talks. Chicago is interested in Frankie Montas, but for a deal to come to fruition, they may have to part ways with youngster Andrew Vaughn. That is Oakland's current asking price for Montas.
Without much surprise, the White Sox are not jumping at the idea of trading Vaughn. He was just selected by the team with the third-overall pick of the 2019 MLB Draft and is viewed as possessing a lot of potential. Yet, with Chicago in need of a new starter due to their current injury trouble, perhaps that could help Oakland's chances of landing him.
Vaughn just finished his first season with the White Sox in 2021, where he had 15 home runs, 48 RBIs, and a .235 batting average in 127 games. Overall, it wasn't a bad start for the 24-year-old, but he's starting 2022 very well. In six plate appearances, he has two hits - with one of them being a home run.
Nevertheless, it will be intriguing to see if the Athletics are able to land Vaughn in a trade centering around Montas. This is something to keep an eye on moving forward.
