MLB Rumors: AL Team Joins Justin Upton Sweepstakes
According to Darren Wolfson, the Minnesota Twins are exploring the possibility of signing Justin Upton.
Upton of course was released by the Los Angeles Angels before the start of the 2022 regular season. Although this occurred, it certainly makes sense that a team like the Twins are considering the idea of signing him. This is especially true when noting that they could sign him to a cheap contract, too.
Given Byron Buxton's injury trouble, it wouldn't be a bad thing to have Upton available for depth. Furthermore, he also could compete for a primary spot in their outfield, but he would need to bounce back from a very rough 2021 season. In 89 games last year, he had 17 home runs, 41 RBIs, and a low .211 batting average.
It will be intriguing to see if the Twins end up landing him from here.
