Miami Marlins Release Outfielder
Delino DeShields' time with the Miami Marlins is officially over, as the franchise has decided to release him from his minor league contract.
DeShields was aiming to land himself a job on the Marlins' major league roster, but his playing time during Spring Training was very limited. With that, he didn't impress all that much, as he only had one hit in eight at-bats. Thus, the Marlins have decided to part ways with him, and he will be aiming to find a new home elsewhere from here.
When looking at DeShield's major league experience, there could be other clubs willing to give him a shot. In 601 career games between the Texas Rangers, Cleveland, and Cincinnati Reds, he has 19 home runs, 139 RBIs, and a .246 batting average. With that, he also has accumulated an impressive 111 stolen bases.
It will be intriguing to see what happens with DeShields from here. All we know for sure is that he will not be playing for the Marlins in 2022.
