Mets Designate Infielder For Assignment
The New York Mets have designed Matt Reynolds for assignment. With this, they have gained a spot on their 40-man roster.
Reynolds appeared in one game for the Mets this season but did not get a single at-bat. Now, if he ends up clearing waivers, he will likely end up being dropped to their Triple-A squad by next week.
Reynolds was signed under the impression that he would be a solid depth infield option for the Mets. In 131 career games between the Mets, Washington Nationals, and Kansas City Royals, he has four home runs, 19 RBIs, and a .212 batting average.
It will be intriguing to see what happens with Reynolds from here. Perhaps a team in need of some depth at third base or shortstop could decide to claim him, but time will tell on that front.
