Mariners Premier Prospect Makes Opening Day Roster

After ripping a 115 mph homer, Seattle Mariners' rookie sensation put an exclamation point on his spectacular spring training on Sunday, and he's been rewarded Monday morning by officially being named to the M's opening day roster.

That was just one of his three hits on the day, falling just a triple shy of the cycle. J-Rod is now hitting .419 this spring, with an outrageous 1.310 OPS.

Just a couple of days earlier, he ripped an inside-the-park homer.

According to MLB.com, Rodriguez comes into the season as the No. 3 prospect in baseball, and "Loved by old-time scouts and analytics-minded folks alike, he has all the makings of a big league superstar."

Add his prodigious power to his incredible plate discipline, and it's easy to see why Mariners fans are excited about the 21-year-old outfielder.

His overall line in the minors was a .331 batting average with a .955 OPS. He provides speed as well as power, and his future is unlimited. And... it starts now.
