Mariners Acquire Outfielder From Diamondbacks
The Seattle Mariners have acquired Stuart Fairchild from the Arizona Diamondbacks. In return, Arizona will be receiving cash considerations.
Fairchild was designated for assignment by the Diamondbacks earlier this week, so the possibility of him being traded was certainly there. Now, with this move, he will be hoping to get into far more major league action as a Mariner.
Fairchild made his major league debut last season with the Diamondbacks. In 12 games with the team, he had zero home runs, two RBIs, and a .133 batting average. Overall, it wasn't the greatest of starts to his career, but he will now have the chance to change that with his new club.
Nevertheless, at worst, the Mariners have added to their outfield depth. It will be intriguing to see how he performs from here.
