Diamondbacks Designate Veteran Pitcher For Assignment
The Arizona Diamondbacks have designated 20-year MLB veteran Oliver Perez for assignment.
Perez inked a one-year with Arizona before the start of the season. Unfortunately for him, this season has started off disastrously, as he has allowed seven earned runs on eight hits in just four innings pitched. As a result of this, the D-Backs have decided to remove him from their 40-man roster.
When looking at Perez's immense experience at the major league level, it seems possible that a team could claim him off waivers. In 703 career games between the Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Mets, Seattle Mariners, Houston Astros, Washington Nationals, Cleveland, and Diamondbacks, he has a 74-94 record and 4.37 ERA.
Let's see if the 40-year-old is able to find a new home from here.
