Cubs Send Outfielder To Triple-A
Earlier this week, the Chicago Cubs designated Greg Deichmann for assignment. Due to the fact that the 26-year-old has cleared waivers, the Cubs have now sent him down to Triple-A Iowa.
Deichmann did not make an appearance with the Cubs this season. Instead, he had his first taste of major-league action last season with the team. In 14 games, he had four hits in 30 at-bats. This equates to a .133 batting average, so it's fair to say he struggled when called upon. With that, he struck out 14 times - which is just under half of his plate appearances.
Deichmann will now be looking to turn things around down in Triple-A. If he does well in Iowa, perhaps it will open the door to another opportunity in the majors later down the road. We will have to keep an eye on his progress from here.
