Braves And Cubs Complete Trade

The Atlanta Braves have traded Sean Newcomb to the Chicago Cubs in exchange for Jesse Chavez and cash considerations.

Newcomb was recently designated for assignment by the Braves, but he has now found a new home in Chicago. The reliever spent each of the last six seasons with the Braves, where he put together a 24-23 record and 4.25 ERA. With this change of scenery, he will be aiming to rebound, as he's off to a poor start in 2022. In three appearances, he has a 7.20 ERA.

The Braves are landing a grizzled veteran and familiar face in Chavez. He spent last season with the team, where he had a 3-2 record and 2.14 ERA. He has struggled with the Cubs this season, however, as he has a 6.35 ERA in three games.
