Blue Jays Pitcher To Miss Time
The injury bug has arrived league-wide, and the Toronto Blue Jays are the latest team to deal with it. Hyun Jin Ryu has been placed on the 10-day injured list due to left forearm inflammation.
Ryu has struggled this season thus far, as he has a 0-0 record and 13.50 ERA in his two starts. Of course the sample size is small, so one good outing will help improve the latter statistic significantly. Yet, for that to occur, he will need to recover from his current ailment.
With the Blue Jays looking to take that next step this season, they certainly need a healthy Ryu. When on his game, he is an extremely effective pitcher, and his 2020 season shows that perfectly. In 12 starts that season, he had a 5-2 record and 2.69 ERA. This was also after he sported a league-best 2.32 ERA with the Dodgers the year before.
Alas, here's to hoping this injury isn't anything too serious, and that the veteran pitcher can return to the mound after these 10 days are over.
