Athletics Catcher Suffers MCL Sprain
The Oakland Athletics will be without Steven Vogt, as the veteran catcher has been diagnosed with a grade 2 MCL sprain.
The A's and Vogt reunited for the 2022 season, but with this development, it will, unfortunately, have to be put on pause. The beginning of this season has been rough for the 38-year-old, however, as he has a .071 batting average. His one hit in 15 at-bats was a home run, though.
With Vogt having to miss time, the A's have lost some depth behind the plate. Although he no longer is an All-Star like he was during his earlier days, his experience is major for the rebuilding club. Thus, he will be missed while sidelined.
In 730 career games between the Tampa Bay Rays, Milwaukee Brewers, San Francisco Giants, Arizona Diamondbacks, Atlanta Braves, and A's, he has 76 home runs, 291 RBIs, and a .243 batting average.
