A’s Hit With Huge Outbreak; 6 More Players Go On Covid List
To say the Oakland A's will be shorthanded for their home opener with the Baltimore Orioles is a bit of an understatement. The Athletics have placed no less than six players on the Covid injured list.

The A's lose their closer Lou Trivino, and two other relievers, Kirby Snead and A.J. Puk, as well as infielders Jed Lowrie and Chad Pinder, along with catcher Austin Allen. That brings their total on the Covid list to 7, as they also lost outfielder Stephen Piscotty to the list on Friday.
Allen, Puk and Snead were on the restricted list and didn't make the trip to Toronto for the just-concluded series with the Blue Jays. It's presumed that those three are unvaccinated and therefore ineligible to travel to Canada to play.
Three players have been called up for now as replacements: Infielders Nick Allen and Christian Lopes and reliever Sam Selman. Allen is a top prospect, and currently sports a .369 on-base percentage with Las Vegas in Triple-A.
