Angels Call Up Left-Hander
The Los Angeles Angels have swapped out left-handers, calling up Kenny Rosenberg for his first taste of the major leagues, while designating Brian Moran for assignment.
The 26-year-old Rosenberg made a strong impact on the Angels' brass with his work during spring training, enough that he gets the call after just one appearance with Salt Lake at Triple-A. And it was a good one, 4 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 5 K.
He had spent five years in the Tampa Bay Rays minor league system before the Angels claimed him in the Rule 5 Draft minor league phase this past offseason. He had posted a tidy 2.35 ERA at Triple-A Durham in the Rays system in 2021.
Rosenberg is expected to fill a middle-relief role as a lefty out of the pen.
The 33-year-old Moran had only accumulated at total of 11.1 innings of big league action over the past 3 years, with a 7.94 ERA.
The Angels have a week to either trade Moran or place him on waivers.
