Yankees And Twins Complete Blockbuster
The New York Yankees have acquired Josh Donaldson and Isiah Kiner-Falefa from the Minnesota Twins in exchange for Gary Sanchez and Gio Urshela.
The Yankees are getting another power bat in their lineup with Donaldson. The three-time All-Star and 2015 MVP is still quite effective, as he had 26 home runs, 72 RBIs, and a .247 batting average with Minnesota last season.
Kiner-Falefa's tenure with the Twins is over after just one day because of this trade. At this time, it seems that he will be the team's new starting shortstop. Although he isn't as big of a name as Trevor Story or Carlos Correa, he is still a Gold Glove winner and a player on the rise. In 158 games last season with Texas, he had eight home runs, 53 RBIs, and a .271 batting average.
Sanchez is a power-hitting catcher who has had a lot of trouble hitting for contact over these last few seasons. The two-time All-Star is still a threat because of the former, though. In 117 games this past season with the Yankees, he had 23 home runs, 54 RBIs, but a low .204 batting average.
Urshela put together some solid seasons during his three-year tenure with the Yankees and will now be looking to carry that over to the Twins. In 116 games last season, he had 14 home runs, 49 RBIs, and a .267 batting average.
