White Sox Sign Veteran Reliever
Although Joe Kelly expressed a desire to return to the Los Angeles Dodgers, that did not come to fruition. Instead, the veteran reliever has signed a two-year, $17 million contract with the Chicago White Sox.
After an impressive 2020 season with the Dodgers, Kelly once again was very good in 2021. In 48 appearances with LA, he had a 2-0 record, 2.86 ERA, and 50 strikeouts. He was a very reliable reliever for them and the White Sox should be ecstatic to have him.
With the White Sox looking to take that next step, it certainly doesn't hurt to add a player with two World Series rings and immense experience. In 365 career games between the St. Louis Cardinals, Boston Red Sox, and Dodgers, Kelly has a 50-29 record, 3.83 ERA, and 619 strikeouts.
The White Sox have been busy since the lockout ended, so let's see what else they do before Opening Day.
