White Sox Sign Starter
The Chicago White Sox are set to sign Vince Velasquez.
The specific details of his expected contract have not been announced at this juncture of time, but that will change shortly. No matter the case, the White Sox will be taking a chance on the 29-year-old.
In 25 appearances last season with the Philadelphia Phillies and San Diego Padres, he had a 3-9 record, 6.30 ERA, and 101 strikeouts. With these numbers, it is clear that the veteran starter struggled. However, with the new year bringing him a fresh start, it could allow him to bounce back from here.
If he is able to rebound, he could be a decent number-five starter for Chicago. In 156 career appearances between the Houston Astros, Phillies, and Padres, he has a 31-44 record, 4.95 ERA, and 716 strikeouts.
